Cast bronze Buddhist ritual flat gong or chime from Heian period (795-1185)
Probably late Heian period
Size: 15.5 cm X 6.6 cm
Two peacocks flanking a central boss in the form of a lotus blossom. This Kei is even worn out from use, the design of lotus blossom and feathers of peacocks are sculptural treatment and detailed incising.
Note: Similar and slightly larger Kei is illustrated in the catalogue of Tokyo National Museum ""Buddhist Implements" #243.
